IABP Certification Requirements
Listed below are the requirements to become IABP Certified.
Certification requires you to pass the Exam, Phone Interview, and experience & reference check.
Work Experience Requirements
Submit verified evidence of a minimum of five years of Information Assurance or Information Security work experience in at least three areas of the exam content. The work experience must be gained within the ten-year period preceding the application date for certification.
Experience Substitutions
The following Information Assurance and security-related certifications or degrees can be used to satisfy the indicated amount of information Assurance work experience. You can only substitute a maximum of 2 years of experience with certifications or degrees.
Two YearsOne Year
- Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) in good standing
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) in good standing
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) in good standing
- Post-graduate degree in information assurance (M.S.I.A.) or a related field (e.g., business administration, information systems, information security
- Skill-based security certifications (e.g., SANS Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), CompTIA Security +, Disaster Recovery Institute Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), ESL IT Security Manager)
